6. 2017 Annual Conference & Annual General Meeting

The 2017 Annual Conference will be held on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th April, at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. More details, and an application form, will be on our website soon and announced on Nihongo Victoria, and our Facebook page, Twitter feed and our website.

Before our conference, don’t forget to have your students enter the Conference Book Cover Competition and Sticker Design Contest. You may also encourage your students to make a manga poster for display at the conference.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Friday 28th April at 4:30pm. The previous AGM’s minutes are approved, we have reports from the President and Treasurer, and nominate new Committee members. Canapes and cocktails follow the AGM, at 5pm.

Interested teachers are invited to join the Committee if they wish to contribute to our work.

For a detailed agenda, a nomination form and appointment of proxy form, please see the Notice of the Annual General Meeting of Financial Year 2016.

7. JLTAV Certificate of Merit award information

The JLTAV is now holding a Certificate of Merit award. You may find more information in the details and nomination form.

8. Regional support proposal

The JLTAV is considering the launch of a new initiative to grant funding to regional networks of Japanese languages teachers around Victoria. This will allow those regional networks to host their own professional development for teachers, language and culture events and competitions for students and can grant travel and accommodation costs for members.

For more information, see the regional support proposal. If this idea interests you, please read through it and send any feedback to the JLTAV Committee.

9. VCE SAC support information

The JLTAV is considering a new project for the JLTAV to support VCE teachers in the creation of high-quality SACs for Units 3 and 4. We need native Japanese speakers and experienced VCE teachers to help in the creation of these SACs, for checking reading SACs, and checking and recording listening SACs.

If you are interested in helping out with the service or finding out more, please fill in the expression of interest form.

10. 2017 membership information
