Event report

On Saturday 27 February, the JLTAV held a language methodology refresher day to support early years, primary and secondary teachers. The event was held at Gardenvale Primary School and was well supported with 15 teachers in attendance.

The day commenced with two ICT sessions focusing on iPad apps and web tools to support Japanese learning and teaching. The second half of the day focused on curriculum planning and assessment in primary and secondary groups. The day ended with an opportunity for the presenters to share some resources to further engage students in their Japanese studies.

The Victorian Japanese teaching community is very fortunate to have such passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated teachers who are willing to share their vast experience, knowledge and resources with our colleagues. Sincere thanks go to the presenters on the day: Jan Chalmer, Kathleen Duquemin and Masako Kennedy.

We also thank all the teachers who enthusiastically participated throughout the day. The feedback on the day was very positive. Participants said:

• Each presenter had great passion and practical tips
• A nice opportunity for networking and sharing of ideas
• The resources and ideas provided were great
